KITTIES!

I keep mentioning them, so I figured I'd give a nice reference picture. From left to right they are: Shelfish, Obo (who looks a mite possessed for some reason), and Pebbles. This is a rare photo containing all three. Usually Shelfish tries to kill Pebbles while Obo rolls his eyes (in a metaphorical cat way) and walks away. In fact, that is what happened almost immediately after this picture was taken.

Go figure.

Weird Weather

You can tell that I'm procrastinating, because my level of procrastination goes in direct ratio with the number of pointless lj posts I make in one day, but really, the weather right now is odd. According to various weather sites it is -1C and maybe I'm just warm-blooded, but it seems far warmer to me than that, because I was walking around quite comfortably in a t-shirt and bare feet a few moments ago (well... maybe not *comfortably* I realised that there was broken glass from my party animal neighbours at some point and tip-toed back inside for shoes; but I wasn't cold is the point)

Now the weirdness: there is freezing rain. Heavy freezing rain.

Walking about, feeling warm, in a t-shirt while little pellets of ice drop onto your head is a most surreal feeling.

I've had some experience with freezing rain: I lived though the great ice storm of '98, which was basically an extended holiday for ten year old me (I wasn't in a badly affected region and didn't end up in a shelter, though I know people who did). I hate freezing rain when I need to travel, or when it knocks out the power, but I love the tinkling sound it makes, skittering against my window glass, and its beauty when it collects on tree branches like a glimmering, glassy cocoon. I love it when the sun rises, or sets, and the light catches through all of those crystals and turns them golden. And, I've decided, I also love the feeling of walking barefoot on a warm evening and having little droplets on it melt on my cheeks.
