Now I'm curious where I can go to see those thoughts. I am still really baffled about that sub-text and can't figure out if it was intentional or not.

If it was intentional, I think it's kind of an awful/hilarious meta on the real world that the writer who brought that topic to Doctor is a middle aged white guy with a reeeallly tenuous grasp on science. Or, in the words of Madame Vastra, "Your grasp on biology troubles me."
