clocketpatch: A small, innocent-looking red alarm clock, stuck forever at 10 to 7. (Sarah Jane and the Brig)

You will be missed

After a great evening out I came home and went to check the DbyA for new posts/spam/unwhited spoilers. People had left messages in the C-box. I sort of skimmed them but my eyes caught out the words "will miss the SJA" and all I could think was: "Damn! It's been cancelled? But I loved that show! I love Clyde/Rani and Sarah-Jane and K-9/Mr. Smith"

If only.

It's not really sticking yet. Reading various posts, I think it's a big shock to everyone in fandom. No one knew she was sick. She always looked so young. All I can think now is that 63 is my mum's age, which I generally forget because she looks so young too. My sympathies and prayers are going out to Lis Sladen's friends and family tonight.

Good bye Sarah-Jane, we won't forget you.

Yes indeed! She was the companion of our Dr. Who, Tom Baker, when we lived in Britain.

I'm certainly still in shock. :.|
Honestly, I still don't believe. When I heard I thought for sure it was a mistake, a horrible rumor, a sick joke. I really wish I had been right. It just doesn't feel possible.
I've been unable to do much since then, except cry. *hug very tightly*

I'm sure her family would appreciate the kind words; everyone should know (if they don't already) how many lives she's touched.

As for Sarah Jane, the character ... the petulant part of me is screaming at everyone, "shut up, shut up, she's still saving the world!"

Your post = my exact thoughts. She always looked so young, that this was completely unexpected. Such a sad day. :-(

*hugs*

Lis was the same age as my mum too. What's even more cruel is that my mum survived breast cancer and a brain tumour, so why couldn't Lis?

I know; I think I had been having probably about the best day I've had since being ill, and then right at the end of it, what I thought at first had to be a sick joke, because how could Elisabeth Sladen be dead? But the BBC said it was true. *hugs*

And how sad for her family. Not that it's ever easy, but these days, 63 is way, way too young. :-(

And the SJA, too (presumably, I mean...?!). Wow. I feel slightly sad for all the kids who watch, too, even if that sounds silly. (Bad enough to lose your fave TV show when you're young. And these days even ten year olds are going to know exactly why.)

I am so upset about this...
