At least their second choice is a good actor, although I really can't see him as the Doctor. You don't just need a good actor; you need someone with a very particular set of qualities -- including being British. ; )

It's one of those moments where you have to step back and go, "Wait, what, seriously... you aren't having me on? Someone actually thought this was a good idea at some point?"

Sort of like Six's coat, except, Six's coat actually grows on you after a while. This... I feel like, had it happened, the movie just would've been disowned by fandom and the vast majority would've continued on pretending it never happened.

(but, is it bad that I kind of wish I could temporarily slip into the parallel universe where it happened, just to see how they'd have attempted pulling it off? Because my brain... it doesn't stretch far enough to imagine it)
