The Tragic Tale of Sad Bird the Sad Bird

Having never managed to actually finish a bingo on h/c bingo, I vowed that this time I would. Unfortunately, I've also been having some terrible writer's block. Wanting to do something while waiting for it to pass, I started messing around with some crayons and before I knew it an entire blackout bingo had formed.

Characters: Sad Bird, Happy Bird, Stoic Penguin, Angry Ground Squirrel
Warnings: Graphic violence, self harm, attempted suicide, minor character death, general unpleasantness, terrible crayon drawings

There is quite a bit of plot for this in my head, and I had thought about adding a bit of narration to each picture to confirm what was going on, but 1. writer's block, and 2. it's probably more interesting to let the birds speak for themselves and let all of you come up with your own interpretations of what's going on.

Self-harm

Forced body modification

Forced to participate in illegal / hurtful activity

Planet destruction

Healers

Hypothermia

Unwanted transformation

Burns

Arrest

Wow, that's a mix of cute, funny and rightfully disturbing; I think it's amazing. And your crayon drawings work really well; there's such a clear sense of character in each one.

I am glad the penguins came through in the end and still kind of disturbed by the third to last. (I see what you mean now!!)

Well done - and a black out is so cool!

(I don't think I've said enough, but tehre's a lot here to come back to and chew over, and honestly I sat here and sort of laughed/felt disturbed in a good way all the way through.)

They are absolutely brilliant! I love the dungeon and the panic attack particularly :-)

That is quite a bingo! Poor sad bird! (Also it is brilliant, I must say)

This is totally fantastic. I Iove it. I started laughing so hard I was almost crying when I got to forced body mod and forced to participate in an illegal, etc activity. But these didn't just make me laugh. This is a real story.

These are really great. It's a dark and disturbing tale alright (Happy Bird and that ground squirrel are downright evil!), but also very funny and you end up really feeling for Sad Bird and being glad that it seems to turn out for him okay in the end. With the penguins, of course, as the arbiters of justice and decency.

I think words would actually take something away from it - the pictures tell the story well enough on their own, and the room for interpretation is one of the things that fascinates about them.

You're actually quite good with crayons. I was impressed. :)

I enjoyed this a lot, though it was surprisingly disturbing in parts. But there was a definite story to it. Well done.

Awww, that poor thing; I hope it'll be okay in the long run.

I'm impressed, I have to say. The narrative is presented distinctly, and it feels very much like something a child psychiatrist would see from a very disturbed kid. Or almost like the children's book from Hell.

I'm also impressed by how quickly this got done; I'm having the devil of a time with my own blackout. I have half of my prompts figured out, but the remainder are giving me all manner of trouble.

Great job! :) *applauds*

Wow...Not quite sure whether to be impressed or disturbed. I think I like it though. Well done on your blackout!
