The Tragic Tale of Sad Bird the Sad Bird

Having never managed to actually finish a bingo on h/c bingo, I vowed that this time I would. Unfortunately, I've also been having some terrible writer's block. Wanting to do something while waiting for it to pass, I started messing around with some crayons and before I knew it an entire blackout bingo had formed.

Characters: Sad Bird, Happy Bird, Stoic Penguin, Angry Ground Squirrel
Warnings: Graphic violence, self harm, attempted suicide, minor character death, general unpleasantness, terrible crayon drawings

There is quite a bit of plot for this in my head, and I had thought about adding a bit of narration to each picture to confirm what was going on, but 1. writer's block, and 2. it's probably more interesting to let the birds speak for themselves and let all of you come up with your own interpretations of what's going on.

These are really great. It's a dark and disturbing tale alright (Happy Bird and that ground squirrel are downright evil!), but also very funny and you end up really feeling for Sad Bird and being glad that it seems to turn out for him okay in the end. With the penguins, of course, as the arbiters of justice and decency.

I think words would actually take something away from it - the pictures tell the story well enough on their own, and the room for interpretation is one of the things that fascinates about them.

I'm not certain if Happy Bird is or isn't evil. The ground squirrels certainly are, but Happy Bird... I don't know. He/she does save Sad Bird in the end, though whether or not that was the intended outcome...

I'm happy you enjoyed and that the characters were worth rooting for. Also, that the decision to go sans text worked to the benefit of the birds.
