The source I was getting it from had it listed as a children's drama, hence my confusion, but yeah... it didn't really seem like a kid's show aside from the two children POV characters, and lost explained that below.
It's easy to get confused though, because what qualifies as children's drama in the UK for that period doesn't always translate back as children's drama. 1970s Who, for example, is technically children's drama, but you've got super dark stuff in there like Genesis of the Daleks and The Deadly Assassin.
