- I don't really like Duel. It's got some great moments: Avon talking about Blake and Travis throwing nuts at each other, Avon talking about how he doesn't need to prove that he cares about Blake, Blake and Jenna having their conversation about the Federation... Actually, no. That's all one moment. I like the bit where they're in a tree, but other than that I don't like Duel.
:O
WHAT ABOUT THIS BIT?
BLAKE They don't seem very impressed, Travis. [Laughs] Why don't you try stamping your foot? TRAVIS Oh, that's very amusing, Blake. For a dead man.
a lovely excuse to have the two of them together and forced to just say pathetic things at each other, rather than having to kill each other instantly.
aaaaaaaalso, we didn't even talk about blake's shit drawing of the pursuit ships :p
i pretty much love duel. i think there's some more work that could be done on it - what does blake learn about the death of a friend? i guess that he would risk his life to save her - but again, he already knew that. still - maybe worth flagging that up. it's also very talky and very moralistic and very standard GORN trope, but i do really like it.
i know the world is with me on this one (sort of - the vervoid reviews don't like it), so i don't feel the need to go into why i like it in too much more depth. let's leave it at that.
