The science was utterly ridiculous, to the point where I just kind of threw my hands up and went with it. The moon is an egg? Okay then. Moon babies can lay moon sized eggs seconds after birth? Okaayyyyy. Giant spider germs on the moon baby? Vanishing eggshells? Serious issues with math and dates... (it's not just the hundred million years thing, because it's been pointed out elsewhere on the web that the "My granny used to post things on Tumblr" joke that I liked doesn't make a huge amount of sense for a character who is 47 in 2049.)
But... I kind of liked it for its absurdity?
Mostly, I liked it for the actors doing a very good job, and for the good lines sprinkled around the bad science. And the gorgeous direction.
But I also get why most people disliked it, and that's okay, because there are episodes which I absolutely hate and other people love. I don't like The Beast Below, for example, though it's the exact same trope and better played. *shrugs* Fandom is weird.
