That story really twisted me out of my comfort zone, but I felt that it had to be done, and once I started I really couldn't stop. I think that the message of gender and identity roles highlighted by the switch is a timely one, and, while Hex's initial reactions to Doctor!Ace were difficult to write, it was interesting to track the way their relationship evolved in response to the change. The part at the end when she gets her body back and he doesn't know how to act around her and keeps looking at the Doctor unconsciously played out so well in my mind, and I hope that translated to the page.
Evil!Torchwood wasn't an original part of the story, but after the Doctor-in-Ace's body started having a metacrisis, I knew that they'd have to find outside help to solve the problem. And then agent Peters just sort of took on a life of his own. Never has an OC been quite so insistent with me that /he/ is the actual star of the story!
