He fell into one of the plot holes. That right there being the problem with being a character in one of Rusty's epics - the terrain is always so treacherous.
Now that, right there, is as good a summation of Rusty's nonsense as I've ever seen! (Also glad to see I wasn't the only one wondering WTF happened to him...)
