At the risk of sounding like a druggie peddling DreamWidth invite codes. I've got five of them. I'm still not sure if I'm actually moving over there because moving journals is a pain, but it's looking like there might be a mass migration coming up.

Well, that's all of them. I'm still not sure if I'm running over there because, after poking around a bit, I think I like LJ's infrastructure better and the ticky-box-begone work around seems to works reasonably well. At the same time... it's good to have a back up den if the ship starts going down.

It *always* looks like a mass migration, and then the fuss dies down and the migration never happens. (It's been six years; I've seen this too many times.) The community infrastructure doesn't exist at DW, and until/unless it does, LJ's going to continue to reign supreme even when it does stupid stuff. That doesn't mean they shouldn't learn from their mistakes (and to be fair, while LJ is far from perfect in that arena, they're a helluva lot better than Facebook is!), but they're not going to lose the userbase until there's a real sea change at DW.

(And to be perfectly honest, I think DW's policies on copyright are going to get them into some serious legal trouble at some point, so I wouldn't ever want to make a permanent move to their site.)

Did you realize you can just import your entire journal, comments, profile, interests and all? It's really, really easy too - I just did both of mine. The only part that took a while was trying to decide on which color scheme to use.

I don't think I'm actually going to move to Dreamwidth anytime soon, but if your codes are not in great demand I think I might snaffle one to have handy. They don't expire, right?

(On a tangent, could you pretty-please possibly point me toward an AO3 invite code? I've just been nominated for a fic awards contest, but the nominated fic is only on FFnet, so I'd like to move it somewhere a bit more dependable and tell them the new link when I confirm the nomination. Which I have till Sept 10 to do.)

Thanks!

If you've still got one, please can you send it to me? Not that I plan an immediate move or anything, but it would be a useful thing to have for a rainy day... Do you know how long they are good for?

I like your revised post better. :D [I'm probably also one of those who *should* use cross-posting for her journals... 8-S]

I copy and pasted what you typed when requesting for invites, I got five invites within a day.

CP, do you want to friend me on DW? If you do, I'm using the same name there as here. :)
