I think I'm with you on this episode. It had some nice moments and touches, but on the whole I'm not really sure what I thought of it, or indeed what really happened. I need to do some rewatches, I think.
Although...if it did somehow turn out to be connected to the exploding TARDIS in S5, I would award Moffat as many bonus points as he can eat. The only other things I really want an explanation of are a) the mysterious "landing" marks you mention near Amy's house, b) the "Evil TARDIS" from the lodger and its connection to the Silence and c) the "future Amy and Rory" in the gawdawful Silurians two-parter. I don't want much, I know.
