Probably old news to everyone else but...

A friend just sent me the link to this. I jumped straight to the third series and have been laughing myself silly at Steven Pacey making jokes about being cast based on his curls. And then he starts actively shipping Avon and Vila at one point. It's hilarious.

Trope Bingo: Mind Games

I decided to go super literal for the mind games prompt and created this: http://games.usvsth3m.com/2048/blakes7-edition/

Spoilers abound. Also, I think that using .gifs has made it significantly harder than the original. Because I'm evil.

30 Days Meme

After being inspired by... the majority of my flist, I'm swiping this from [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny. And I'm doing B7 this time around, though I feel like this is a meme which could get much millage being reused for different shows (and eras of shows?) as it strikes my fancy.

Question 1: Favourite Episode (s)

Here a poem, there a poem...

Yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook and bearing in mind that I am very tired and some of these became actual drabbles as a result

1: Pick five fandoms. List them in alphabetical order.

Blake's 7
Doctor Who
Kamin Rider OOOs
Magic School Bus
Sapphire and Steel

2: Visit this site to find your first RANDOM POEM OF POWER. Write down the 5th line (yes, even if it's an E.E. Cummings poem and you wind up with an apostrophe). Repeat five times and - you guessed it - list 'em in alphabetical order! (No cheating, mind! This is a challenge and it's always been about creativity.)

3: I think you can see where this is going. Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting - make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt. You don't have to include it in the half-drabble - it's just inspiration.

4: Bravo! Have a cookie.

It takes allsorts

[livejournal.com profile] lost_spook has created the wonderful prompts communitity [livejournal.com profile] dw_allsorts, and in a fit of madness I've grabbed one of the mid-sized tables with the claim to write nine Doctor/TARDIS theme fics.

#01 – A red light or a star #02 – It will be a long trip #03 – The heart in reverse
#04 – A ribband of red #05 – The world has many seas #06 – A silver city
#07 – According to rumour #08 – Day of mist #09 – Fun, Foam and Freedom

Sapphire & Steel Assignment 1 (second half)

First half is HERE

Continuing from where I left off last time... )

Tonight is apparently a night for watching old scifi, so upon finishing Assignment One I tried watching Lexx, which is a Canadian-German scifi show from the 90s which I'd never heard of before yesterday but looked intriguing... I could not get through a single episode.

The only entertaining characters were the dragonfly bomb (who died), and the love sick robot head on a skateboard. I also enjoyed the space pirate in a sparkly pink sequined kilt. These are awesome things, but they were not enough to redeem the confusing muddle of a plot and the Ben Steed levels of fail.

... has anyone else on the flist watched this show? It got good reviews on IMDB. Is it just the first episode that's terrible? Should I persevere? Or should I ditch it and watch more S&S instead?

Raising the white flag: I Surrender meme

[livejournal.com profile] lost_spook has taken it upon herself to resurrect that most brain-eating of lj memes:

1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" and I'll assign you the basis of some TV show idea. (Science fiction show, medical drama, criminal procedure, etc...)
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them.
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal.

(If you've never played before: warning for potential brain-eating.)

On the Far Shore

Unexpected fic happened during [livejournal.com profile] fic_rush! This was one of those ideas that jumps out of nowhere and then sternly savages you until you write it all down. It's fulfilling the reunion square on my trope bingo card so that's... one down and only twenty four more to go! Next on the list is actually getting some words down on my Blakefest fic.

On the Far Shore (4126 words) by Clocketpatch
Fandom: Blake's 7
Rating: General Audiences
Characters: Oleg Gan, OCs, and you'll have to read to find out the rest (or look at the tags, but it may be better to read without knowing)

Free Fabric Anyone?

I'm not much into fabric, but I've just learned of a give away of 8x8 squares of custom printed fabric at: http://www.spoonflower.com/silky_faille

Between noon EST on Thursday, Jan. 23rd, and noon ESt on Friday, Jan. 24th, get a free, custom-printed swatch of our Silky Faille fabric, along with free shipping. One free swatch per household.

The swatch is an 8 inch square- that's big enough for an eyeglass case, one side of a potholder or a pocket patch on an apron or...just to see how they print.

You can choose any for sale design at Spoonflower (or make your own).

I learned this from feng_shui_house on DW (one day I WILL learn the coding to link DW people) who has a shop full of designs here: http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/eclectic_house (lots of nice cat patterns. I'm actually thinking of getting the owl cats just to put up on my fridge)

Fandom Stocking 2014

(Sorry about the posts so close together. I'm back home again and have time to catch up on things! And there are so many things...)

Fandom_Stocking was brilliant this year! Of course, it's always brilliant, but this year it was especially so.

ETA: Argh, ALL of the code is broked and my attempts at deleting and re-writing aren't doing anything to get rid of all of the random characters. I apologize. It will be fixed(ish) tomorrow but right now I am far too tired to deal with this.

Many, many beautiful things )

As the Spook commands...

The Fifteen Character Meme

1) Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

2) Ask your f-list to post questions in the comments. For example: "One, nine, and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?", "Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?", "Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?"

3) After your f-list has stopped asking questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.
