The Time of the Doctor

Most of the review I was reading ranked this as being only vaguely better than The End of Time, so I was prepared to go in with low expectations. Maybe I should've raised them a bit, because... I quite like The End of Time. Well, minus that twenty minutes at the end which makes me want to thump my head against a desk.

This episode had some head thumping moments, to be sure. I definitely spent a fair portion of the episode moaning and groaning (and not always in a good way). There were logic holes the size of planets. And... poor Clara sure did get a workout on those stairs.

But with all of that... this is not the worse episode ever. Handles was awesome and deserves ALL of the fic. I laughed at the wig. I felt uncomfortable at Tasha (who is River?! I guess... she does live in a mainframe... but River creates herself? What?). I cried at Eleven getting old.

When Clara spoke through the cracks I thought that maybe she would be talking to young Amy who would then run to help young Eleven which would somehow change the future. But... um... I guess Gallifrey randomly giving the Doctor another regeneration cycle works too. obviously they're only doing this so that he'll be alive to get them out, not because they love him, because they clearly don't.

The regeneration itself... um. That was a bit sudden, wasn't it? I'll admit, I burst out laughing at the shock of Matt Smith suddenly being Peter Capaldi. Maybe after the whole drawn out bit with Ten and with the whole regeneration energy shooting down Daleks (again !?!?) they thought that the actual event should be got over as fast as possible. Like a bandage.

I don't know. I've got a feeling though that Twelve is going to be an amnesiac Doctor ala Eight, and that Eleven sensed this and wanted to reassure Clara in advance, that even if he didn't seem to remember... he would never forget.

Hahaha that's a hilarious way of describing it. It really was shockingly fast, especially after the whole Dalek ship thing.

No...if they gave him extra lives (probably shocked that it has been THAT LONG and he's gone through them all already!) it is only because they have plans for him. Like they always do. arseholes.
