Hey Hex-y!

So, I've finally contributed money to that great and noble company which we call Big Finish. I got two audios: Night Thoughts (which I didn't like much over-all, but had some great character moments) and Arrangements for War (which I liked quite a bit, except for the ending which made me scratch my head a bit; I couldn't figure out why the Doctor was willing to allow all of the collateral damage that the love story brought about; and why he seemed relatively unconcerned by said collateral, but meh. Was a good story and good character moments). I highly recommend.

Anyway, I'm back at work on my Seven-Ace-Hex jungle thriller thing, though I should really, really, REALLY be working on my WIPs (I did plug in a new 2000 words for Forever Tomorrow though, I'm just trying to get the conclusion sorted... I knew where I was going with that story, and then it all just sort of got away from me).

What I want to know is, do any of you think there'd be an audience for a story which contains: a spot-light stealing OC who swears a lot, a Big Finish character (Hex), an-absent-for-most-of-the-fic Doctor (Seven), a-half-dead-for-quite-a-bit companion (Ace),  and a combination of near-future politics (and by near I mean, fifty years hence, and in the DW universe), random historical stuff, archaeology, and aliens? And timey-wimey, lots of timey-wimey... It's also looking to be quite long, if I ever get it done that is. I've got around 6000 words and I'm just finishing up the second chapter. So, probably a doosey.

Also, is anyone familiar enough with Seven, Ace, and Hex to be willing to beta for them? I'm thinking this will be a relatively early on adventure to make up for the fact that I haven't heard most of their audios, but I'm afraid I'm getting the dialogue wrong and maybe contradicting established characterisation?

Mostly I'm just concerned people aren't going to stand for reading half a chapter of my OC stamping around swearing.

It sounds very interesting to me! I'm not sure I'm the best person to beta, but I can beat the others so far, being familiar with Ace in most of her incarnations, Seven and have listened to two and a half Hex stories (The Harvest and The Settling - you really should have got those instead! The Harvest is a great intro to Hex, because it's his first story, so there's a lot about him there, ditto The Settling which is his second story and his introduction to history - I love that he, being from Liverpool, understands the trouble they're in before Ace. And Clive Mantle being Oliver Cromwell!).

If you cannot find anyone more expert, I am more than willing to have a go. I love the sound of all of it, except the swearing. ;-D

Heh. Characters with a life of their own, eh? Can't be bad, then!

You want Hex/Ace flirting? They seem a bit brother/sister to me, or maybe it's just the completely audible difference in their ages! However, there are some very sweet Hex/Ace fics around, which I like. Just not when I can hear the actors talking.

And, yes, send it now. (I'm quite excited. I suppose the best way to do that is to contact me on Teaspoon and I'll reply and you can then send it.)

I may be a little slow, because I'm off to watch Ashes to Ashes now and I'll be back at work tomorrow, but i'll respond as soon as I can!

Yes, this is just a thing I have, entirely unreasonable. And actually, Hex definitely likes Ace, but she does in The Harvest lead him on initially for purposes of investigation and in The Settling, she tells him he's like a little brother to her. But if they did get together, I would have irrational problems listening to it. But not necessarily reading it!!
