What would be a good antivirus program for me to download? Preferably free, but I'm willing to pay (better that then get my computer killed). I'd been using AVG free, but they've cut the update support and I've been dead in the water for a few months, and now my laptops doing suspicious slow running thing and I'm just ever so slightly concerned.

Ad Aware is very good (and they have a free version), but it's mostly anti-spyware than a total anti-virus solution. I don't currently have it on my computer because my purchased anti-virus is paranoid about having any other anti-spyware on the hard-drive. It might be able to get rid of whatever is on your computer.

I currently have Kaspersky running on my computer, and nothing has slipped by it in two years. They update their updates hourly, instead of daily. I paid $80 for it, but it's worth it for the peace of mind.

There is a link to a free scan of your computer to see if there is anything, but I think in order to squash it, you will actually need to purchase the product. Try it and see!
