Just when I think they're making progress, Twelve figures out how to open the safe room door. Cue much hissing and scratching and clumps of fur everywhere. Thank god I was home. The door is now secured with a chair and some string, but Tucker is hissing at it on one side while Twelve hurls himself at the other. This is... I don't even know, but if it doesn't end Twelve is going to have to go back to the shelter tomorrow for his own safety and my sanity, because Tuck is angry and Twelve doesn't seem to understand that hissing means back off. Argh.

He's such a lovely cat too. Very playful, snuggly, and too smart for his own gppd. Him and Tuck would be so great together if they'd stop trying to kill each other.

I feel bad at putting Twelve through this ordeal, but I also see that three cats have been adopted from the shelter while I've had him, which means that there is space for him now and he won't be on death row when I return him.

could you maybe ask around the neighbourhood/see if anyone around where you are wants a nice cat? maybe you already are. but yes - this seems a big shame.

Yeah. I've been telling everyone and gotten some interest. So I hope he gets adopted soon. He seemed way happier at the shelter though so that makes me feel better. They had a room with a few other young cats they let him go in and he immediately started playing and snuggling with them.

Aw, that is a shame! (Though, given the names you gave them, I can't help being also just a tiny bit amused because... Twelve doesn't understand fellow cats' interactions and Tucker won't stop hissing and fighting?)

But at least the temporary homing did some good, I suppose. :-/

Twelve just wants to be everyone's friend and doesn't seem to understand why anyone wouldn't want to be friends with him. The shelter was very understanding and happy that I'd been able to take him for the week. He's so young and sweet they don't think he'll have trouble finding a home. I'm very jealous of who gets him, because he is an absolute sweet heart and gorgeous to boot.

I hope so. He is such a cuddle bug. I had several people who wanted to take him but were in non pet friendly accomodations :(

I'm sorry to hear about that- if they are actually fighting (or one of them is) then it doesn't sound like it's going to be easy to settle them together. You can only do what you can- in the end it's up to them to get along or not :-( At least Twelve's stay with you has kept him safe.

I kept him until this afternoon because I kept hoping things might improve even a bit. But Tuck was just getting more and more stressed and hissing at random things. At the ahelter, Twelve immediately started making friends and playing with some of the other cats with no hisses or fuss. I supose the shelter roamers are used to new comers. Still, it was nice to see Twelve's boundless friendliness being rewarded.

Oh no, I am sorry (inpressed by the fact Twelve can open a door but also unfortunate really) I very much hope he'll get adopted quickly if you have to return him - as you say, at least he won't be on death row. *hugs a lot*

The doors in my house don't latch very well which was probably a big contributing factor. I did warn the shelter staff hough that he sees doors as a challenge and will do his best to get through them.
