Hope for the Future

For abbyromana  and greatbriton  who both requested Ian and Giles for the multifandom conversation meme. I'll get around to doing the others eventually I suppose. Fic writing is being greatly curtailled by life at the moment, and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to drop some things *prods at finishathon commitment* After spending the whole day at work copy-pasting spread sheets my enthusiasm for doing anything else likes to crawl into a corner and die. However, I've been wanting to write this fic for a long time. It's set circa 1966 and, alas, I haven't watched any One lately so my Ian characterization is mostly in name only, but I hope you enjoy anyways and forgive me the angst.
