Catching up on a whole bunch of days at once. These are all short answers anyway, and probably happier sitting together in one post than being lonely little paragraphs on their own.

8. Crackiest Moment.

The whole show is such crackalackin madness that this was a bit tricky. I was originally going to just wave at Gambit, but I already gave it a post, and while the wig!hat and Servalan in red is undoubtedly one of the most random moments of the series, I am instead going to give the crack award to another firm fan favourite:

Avon's Epic Battle with the chair in Animals. Because what is that even? And they just keep on filming and acting like it didn't even happen. But it so did.

And I don't have a .gif of it, which is sad. If I did it would be right here.

Runners-ups include: The bits of Sarcophagus where the plot is revealed via interpretive dance, Avon being sold to Servalan that time, the furry, Zygon babies having their massive temper-tantrum at the end of The Web, and Colin Baker's massive gun.

9. How would you convert someone to your show

My attempts at this thus far haven't been that great. Apparently, "talking about it excessively" is not a good strategy (though I did convince a friend to watch up to Cygnus Alpha, she has informed me that I am a horrible person for stealing those hours of her life, so... probably not successful, even if she did like Avon). I am now contemplating writing cross-over fic with her favourite show that does not have much fic, but this would probably be evil, so maybe I shouldn't do that...

10. What show related fan works would you like to see?

For things that don't exist, but I wish did: There are several prompts on the meme I'd like to see filled, but the best way of making that happen would probably be to do it myself. I'd rather like a decent, "Which Blake's 7 Character are you Quiz", because I'm endlessly amused by those sorts of things. I'd also really love a graphic novel of some sort and wish that I had the patience/skillz to make one.

The last book of Hellhound (even though I've only read the first volume, I'm already sad about it not being complete), and that unwritten Susanne Lovette fic [livejournal.com profile] aralias has shown the summary for a few times.

For things that do/did exist, but are not on the internet: All of the Avon/Servalan fics from the Hip Deep archive which taunt me with summaries of their non-existence. the ability to easily skim through all of the fan era zines for the great fics I know I'd be super interested in if I knew they existed.

11. Worst Decision

For the show: Hiring Ben Stead three times and then not editing his awfulness. Whhyyyyy???

For the characters: You're an intelligent, educated man, Blake. Why did you think this was a good idea?!?!

Best go at converting for me is to tell them a bit about the premise, and then watch Gambit and City on the Edge of the World. If it's someone who likes artful writing, add Sand; if it's someone who likes angst, add Orbit. There are a few others I think are good bait. But definitely do NOT slog the newbie through the first several episodes until the person is already somewhat hooked. If possible, skip The Web until much, much later.

I borrowed series 1 some years ago but didn't get very far. Then I picked up the second series and started again and was instantly hooked. I like season 1 but no, it isn't grabby.

Yeah, I don't know how to convert people in rl. I only ever try on people who already like Classic Who online. Because your target audience is the one you can tell it's going to be slow to start (but skip to Seek Locate Destroy if needs be, because it does drag till then) and to imagine any Terry Nation serial (shot in a quarry) meeting Robots of Death, with bonus Robert Holmes and reused props.

Crackiest moment is definitely most things, though. Yes.

Oh, that moment with the chair. SO BEAUTIFUL, SO BEAUTIFUL. I shed a tear of joy, all the more so because I actually NOTICED it (Doctor Who is full of such moments but usually, they have to be pointed out to be on the trivia tracks) I never laughed so much. THAT'S IT AVON, YOU WORK THAT FALLING OVER, YOU WORK IT BABY! :D

I've been lucky with my friends, so far the two I have got to watch it with me both really liked it and have willingly watched more. I have my third friend lined up (she's pretty much a sure thing really, she keeps reading all my fic anyway and then going "Awwww, he seems adorable." (Vila) and "He seems cool." (Avon) and then "OH THAT'S WHY YOU STOPPED TALKING TO ME WHILE WATCHING THE FINALE."

*cries over lost fic* *especially lost Avon/Servalan fic* Whhhhhhhhhy?

Oh Ben Steed. Always the worst decision. According to the Blake's 7 programme guide, he wrote about 200 short stories ...one wonders what the heck those are actually ABOUT and who published them ...

I always give Blake one concession with his stupid plan; he didn't know about Anna Grant so he didn't know Avon was even more hyper-aware of BETRAYAL. That's his ONLY concession. The fact that he didn't realise that Avon was practically in tears begging him just to say "It's chill, I'm not selling you." is where he loses all concessions and becomes THAT BLOODY TWIT ARAGH DAMN YOU BLAKE I WANT TO PUNCH YOU IN THE FAAAAAAAAACE.

There should be a gif of that. I gotta make a gif of that!

(though I did convince a friend to watch up to Cygnus Alpha, she has informed me that I am a horrible person for stealing those hours of her life, so... probably not successful, even if she did like Avon).

I had a friend fall madly in love with it, watch all of series 1 over a week...and then find out about the ending, freak out, refuse to watch anymore, and berate me for letting her start to watch it. :( I've been more careful about my proselytising since then...
