Wish me luck, I'll need it...

Today I attended the information session for the post-grad program I'm hoping to get into. And according to said session they accept less than 20% of the people who apply. I knew it was difficult to get into but... O.o

So wish me luck. lots, and lots, and lots of luck.

The 1:07 Meme

[livejournal.com profile] garpu put this one out there, and I'm just bored enough to do it. Yes, it is one of those list memes. No, you don't have to do it. Yes, you can do it if you want to - in fact, I've honorarily tagged you all just in case.

There was ice this morning. Ice. Brrrrrrrrrrr...

Because being egotistic is good clean fun for the entire family, I've stole this memeage from [livejournal.com profile] jjpor :

Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

www.whofic.com/viewuser.php

... if you really want to you can grab one of the ones on my lj that hasn't made its way over there yet. But beware, for they are not organized at all.

Ahem.

It's that magical time of year...

When I get bored with my selection of userpics and switch them all out for new ones. Well, not all, there are a few too precious to lose, but most.

This was all brought on by [livejournal.com profile] everloyal creating the awesome icon remix seen above.

*Hugs it to death*

Beware the Jaberwock...

Right, chapter two of that Ten & Donna romp I've been poking at:

Anyon with techno know-how please help us?

Alright, I have limited techie knowledge, but the situation is this: our internet works fine when the computer is plugged in directly to the Rogers modem, but as soon as I hook up the D-link router (which has worked more or less flawlessly for the past two years) I get a message telling me that "a network connection is unplugged" and no one can access the internet.

All of the cables are clearly plugged in. I've reset the bloody thing at least twenty times, and before you ask YES it is turned on, and all the lights are on too. I changed the cables.

Any idea of why this might be happening? The lack of wireless is driving us up the wall, and I don't want to have people invading my room to check their emails for the next six months.

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Right, so, it's not finished, it's not beta'd, and it's not particularly good, and it doesn't have a title, but have approx. 2,500 words of Ten and Donna madness. I can't quite grasp Donna's voice and I'm apparently in the mood to whack Ten with a mallet repeatedly, but never mind that.

Enjoy random fic.

(and I was trying so very, very hard to avoid the 'vengeful religious type' stereotype, but then it just sort of happened anyways. Sorry.)

(and yes, I know there are other things that I ought to be working on. Again, I'm sorry. I'm SO sorry.)

These things never happened... (and that's probably a good thing)

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] jjpor because it was too much fun not to:

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

Yay memes!

Obvious things are obvious

It strikes me that today is a very interesting date: the 9th of the 9th month of the 9th year of the new millennium. Now, give that calender time is an abstract concept, made up to give us a sense of past and future and a means to plan and order both, given that calender time is an invention, all these random 9s shoved together don't actually mean anything.

Still, it's the last time we'll get a single digit line-up date like this within our lifetimes. So that's something cool. Also (and I'm taking the internet's word on this, because I'm not doing the math), tomorrow is the 252nd day of the year, and 2+5+2 adds up to...

Not saying anything will happen, except me getting up and going to work as per usual, but aren't numbers fun?

Right, now going to sleep. Ta!

Fic: Rewriting the Past

It's funny how things can expand; balloons, fics, friendships. Balloons have a point where they stop expanding and explode. Fics and friendships can go on forever (though, I'd rather wish the fics wouldn't). abbyromana and I started co-writing this story something like two years ago. She's been incredibly patient with me since I'm probably the absolute worst co-author you could think of; I /never/ get things done for deadline.

Anyways, in an attempt to job ourselves into finishing and properly editing this story I'm going to be posting it up here. Enjoy.

Title: Rewriting the Past
Characters: Eight, the Rani
This Chapter Word Count: 3596

Insomnia meets boredom meets procrastination meets meme

At long last, here are the rest of my responses from the top 5 meme. Sort of. Part of the delay was simple procrastination, the rest was my burning desire to picspam, but that was taking too long so I did away with it. Sorry. Also, stupid lj deleted half my post when I tried to spell check it, which was verily annoying. I didn't feel like rewriting it all, so you're getting the edited highlights for some things. I'm sorry. I'm SO sorry.

Request

So, I've been notice these remix things on the teaspoon. Actually, I noticed them last year (actually, it was the year before that), and I went on a massive internet search to try to find where people gather to divy these things up, becauase I think it's a very interesting idea.

Long story short; I only managed to find last year's remix community, and so I figured it wasn't on. So I stopped looking. Then all of these remixes popped up on the 'spoon again.

So yes, request, next year, when these this thing is being organized, can someone please point me in the right direction for sign-ups? Because this will be my third time missing the boat, and I really am quite intrigued.

Thanks in advance.

MEEP!

So, it's been rampaging across my flist like a herd of angry lemmings, trampling all in its path... it's only right that I join my fellows in tumbling over the inevitable nerd cliff:

Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post.

doubtless my answers shall not be nearly so funny/learned/fascinating as those which have gone before... but it will help us all waste a few minutes on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and isn't that what the interwebs is all about?

memes are a beautiful distaction from life

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] bewarethespork

Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations.

Why? Because I’m bored, and also because my ego jumps at any chance to show off random bits of fic. This meme is made difficult by the fact that I write in choppy little sentence fragments for the most part. Also, I have far, far too many WIPs…

mid-summer cleaning

So, I've been digging through the archives, AKA my forgotten fic folder, and I've rediscovered several dead-end fics. Half of these, I don't even know where I was going with them. I came across some rather nice icons as well *points at icon*. Anyways, there is a point to all of this, and tht is *dum diddy dum* crack!bunny Torchwood fic! Written by yours truly prior to Children of Time (which I still haven't seen, for the record, though I've been told that I ought to remedy that).

As I remember, I wrote this on request for [livejournal.com profile] abbyromana , and I'm posting it now because I think it's slightly funny even if it does give off an air of trying too hard:

Writer's Block... BE GONE!

If I shout at it enough do you think it will go away? It must work, because yesterday I finally got some real headway going on that Seven-Ace-Hex jungle story I've been fiddling with. The one with Ten and Three, however, is still sitting sad and neglected. It looks at me with droopy puppy dog eyes from its desktop corner and makes me feel guilty. Alas.

Anyway, there's also this random Ten and Christina dialogue. Which, in actually fact, I came up with about two weeks ago in a fit of boredom, but shh. I've been playing with it on the sly since then. Oh plot bunnies, why do you torment me so?
