I've got DW invite codes coming out the wazoo if you want one.

And I agree with you 100%, this feature would be ok for others who want to use it (though I would never use it in a million years) if it did not apply to other people's locked entries. Total invasion of privacy. I trust my flist not to use it on purpose in a locked post, but sometimes people just click without looking or hit the wrong thing.
Someone wasn't thinking when they decided to roll this out. As usual...

pleasepleasepleasepleasePLEASE tell me that I read that wrong.

And I use the openID feature to comment on friends blogs without opening an account with their service providers, so I think it is a useful option. Hopefully they will think this all through a little more and will work out the obvious flaws.
They know there's a lot of opposition to this feature, so it might be disabled in the meantime while they work out the kinks. Seriously LJ, "beta testing" is not a foreign concept to most IT companies...
Update: Thank you for taking the time to offer your honest feedback. We understand and appreciate your desire for privacy. We share your concerns. Most of us would not want to publish our LiveJournal usernames or FO comments to Facebook or Twitter either (to the extent we even use them). Please give us a little time to address your concerns. We are listening, and we'll do our best to respond.

The most important thing though is not wanting people to be able to purposefully or accidentally link my journal name/content back to Facebook with one misdirected click.

THIS!

This is exactly my concern, too. It's not likely to affect me too much personally as I don't have many flocked posts, but I'm very upset by the major!fail this change entails -- a locked post should be locked. That applies to comments as well.

Btw, I love your icon. It's from 'The Batman,' right?

What ever gave you that idea?
;p

Well, I just started watching that show. I'm through the first season, and even though there are obvious differences from TAS and the comics, the show is amazingly well done and does a good job of sticking within the guidelines of its own continuity and canon. I'm particularly enjoying the dynamic between Bruce and Alred in the show.
Also, I wanted to ask if you know any good comms for the show on LJ. :)

I haven't seen any comms directly devoted to "The Batman" as opposed to "Batman" in general.

I'll miss you if you go, but I completely understand... moving has crossed my mind too. My life on FB and Twitter is meant to be completely separate from LJ.

I don't like the idea of sharing LJ stuff on Facebook either.

The problem is that your journal name is now out on Facebook, and, depending on who did the sharing and what they had in their comment... Example:
Commented at http://MyExampleName.livejournal.com: LOL Janet. I agree, who shoved a cactus up the boss's ass today.
And now your boss, who shares Facebook but not Livejournal with you and your co-workers, knows that you think he had a bit of prickly vegetation up his rear the other day. He also has the link to your mostly-but-not-completely-private slash fandom journal.

btw, if you do go to DreamWidth, may come to?
*flutters eyelashes innocently*

er... I don't have any invite codes though. I don't know if those come later later or if I have to up-grade to a paid account first or what.

Maybe... I don't know. I once got asked by someone else on my flist for an invite. I didn't take it at the time, because I was quite happy with LJ and... I'd had a bad experience with another invite someplace else. Now, I wish I hadn't. *le sigh*
Well, if you ever find another invite from yourself or you know someone who's giving some away... maybe you could put in a good word for me. ;)

Anyone have any invite codes?

I am wondering what the etiquette will be for importing icons. How do you credit someone from LJ for them? Not everyone keeps the same name on DW and I honestly don't feel like tracking down individuals and asking them out of the blue if they have a DW account name they would like to be creditted under.

You just toss a few lines of code into your custom CSS (one highlight-and-copy, one link-click, one scroll-down-and-paste, one save-click) and voila!
And ftr, if you and/or Prim head over to Dreamwidth, I'm begging an invite code and tagging along. ;-)

What name are you under on DW? I've only got a couple of friends or whatever they call them over there (I think it's "my circle")?

you icon is so WIN! :D

I love yours too! Is it snaggable?

A friend from a now dead Stargate forum made it for me many years ago, but I've never been able to find her again to link back to them. Still, feel free to use and at least link back to me for the source. :)
